  "Leaving the Truth" The Easy Way

  i noticed that we have a lot of new lurkers here - and, in particular, some elders who are agonizing over how to get free.

  from the watchtower without causing too much damage to themselves.

  Most definitely (sp?) number 2!

  Don't discuss it with anyone! I mistakenly, although all the while thinking i was saving my family spiritually, asked my best girlfriend how she coped when her hubby was slipping in the truth, talked to the "mature woman" I dearly loved and known since childhood about my doubts and how did she "know" it was the truth, even my own mother. Whoops! I guess it only helped propel me out and even though not officially "out", I am allready feeling the shunning. i guess we already know for a certainty it WILL happen, it still hurts.

  you know, the watchtower blood doctrine is really goofy.

  in the 1970s, one of the reasons the society gave for refusal of blood, was that the soul is in the blood.

  see leviticus.

  Hey Jim! I remember as a child, probably 10-12 years old thinking something similar. I used to wonder how in good conscience anyone could have a transplant seeing it would have blood on it, in it. As a child I wondered "well, if they rinse the organ off in water is it okay then?"

  How twisted we had to reason to make anything acceptable!

  i have been a lurker here for a few months and feel like i know you all already.

  my story is (of course) similar to everyone else's.

  basically my mom became a jw when i was 10. my sister and i had to be in it with her, and i wanted to go along because i wanted to please jah...and have lots of furry animals in the new system.

  Hi and hugs megsmomma,

  So glad to meet you and hear your experience. Thank God you made it past all the hurdles you had to jump over and the walls you had to climb. The society can make us feel so worthless (even suicidal). I am so glad you have a great man who loves you and supports you! It is a true blessing and keeps a person sane!

  Your daughters sound sweet. What a wonderful thing to be with your 8 year old! They are becoming their own persons and reasoning at that age. Still pure and so full of love. If I think back on my memories of childhood, its really at about this age that you remember things when you are an adult.... I guess what i'm trying to say is, you are there now and she will have you in her most cherished memories forever! Savor that!

  Some Unfortunate News due to the Collision

  i was at the doctor today for over 6-hours to be tested on the issues resulting from the collision.

  it seems that there are some serious effects that have emerged, which is not uncommon to happen within a short time after a serious collision.

  i will describe them later on, as i am waiting for more test results to arrive.

  Oh my goodness! What a trying time for you! I completely agree you MUST listen to that inner voice that tells you if you need hospital attention! Act quickly if you need attention.

  In looking for the little things to smile about, it appears your typing fingers are in good shape! Get your rest and know we are thinking of you.

  Hello there! Yes, we are planning on Christmas and I have already been getting the kids excited about it (Christmas CD playing in September! I beat the mall on that one this year!) I had "worldly" family and so I have holiday memories(thankfully I had great memories and can use them for our family) but children and hubby don't. So this will be their 1st xmas! We are really excited. By then each of us will have celebrated our birthday together, easter and valentines day! What a difference a year can make!

  We are already establishing our own "family traditions" for the holidays: We each will buy 2 christmas ornaments per year for the tree. It will be sparse at first, but there will be memories for the kids to take with them when they move out. And we can start all over again Can you tell I've ALWAYS loved the xmas season? That was my husbands idea and I love the sentimentality of it. I feel nervous. We are not fully "out" yet and I am sure with inside and outside decorations we will be facing the music so to speak. Ah well! bye for now.

  Probably going to church tomorrow

  i may well be making my first visit to a place of worship since i da'd tomorrow.

  my friend marion wants to go, and i have agreed, a little reluctantly i must admit, to accompany her for support.

  the service we are planning to attend is at a baptist church near where we live, and is billed as a family service.

  It is a BIG step to go to a church for the first time. I'd been there for weddings and funeral services before as a jw, but to go for worship! Whoa! That is a hard step to take. We went for a Easter service our first time and I was very apprehensive. We were invited by a member we met through the public shools and had a nice time. She explained what would happen (southern baptist church) and we found it was not the lair of Satan we had always been told. These were good people full of love for God and praising him. THEY EVEN USED JEHOVAH'S NAME IN THEIR SONG!!!!!! Our jaws dropped as we realized jws aren't the only ones giving him praise. People are nice. There are so many things we are taught as jws that is false. I am glad you at least saw for yourself what it is like and can make up your OWN MIND about what You WANT to do!

  We have tried a few different churches ourselves because of a need we feel in us. It has been a real eyeopening experience. Remember in the bible when I think it was Saul was blinded and later scales fell from his eyes so he could see? That is how I have felt. Like I am seeing everything for the first time. The scales have finally fallen off! Whatever you decide to do, congratulations! It is YOUR decision! No one can take that from us anymore.
